Every SoulAtelier heirloom portrait begins with a photograph you already love.
the drawing
your photograph is transformed into a hand drawn portrait, keeping the expressions, markings, and little details that make it unmistakably yours.
the engraving
using a laser, the drawing is engraved into real wood, creating the foundation of the finished portrait while letting the natural grain remain part of the piece.
the painting
watercolor is layered by hand over the engraving—adding depth and warmth without hiding the detail or character of the wood.
the heirloom
Your portrait is carefully finished and, if selected, paired with a frame built specifically for it. Then it leaves my workshop and heads home to you.
THE PHOTOGRAPH DOESN'T HAVE TO BE PERFECT.
it just has to matter.
Clear, well-lit photographs are always helpful.
But some of the images that matter most weren't taken under perfect conditions.
Phone photographs are absolutely welcome.
If you're unsure whether your image will work, send the photograph you actually love. I'll review it before beginning and let you know if another reference would create a stronger finished portrait.

Each frame is built, sanded and finished individually in the SoulAtelier studio to complement the artwork rather than compete with it.
